Frenzied Friday

Friday was full of adventure.
The girl came home from work about an hour early, and this is the first thing she saw.

She didn't like that sight at all, and went to check out other rooms. I followed her to investigate as well.

This is what she saw in her office.

Right away, she assumed that this was my handiwork. I wish I could take credit for this, but how could such a cute dog make a big mess like this?
I tried my hardest to convince her that I was framed. Framed I tell you!

At first I thought the girl believed me. She locked BLU in the crate and went to the closet to get my leash! Woo hoo! I get to go for a walk while BLU gets punished for making the mess. I knew perfecting my innocent face would eventually pay off.

Instead of taking me for a walk, the girl put me in the car. The girl went back in the house to let BLU out of the crate, then got in the car. I can't believe I'm getting a car ride out of this. It's even better than a walk. And BLU doesn't get to go. hehehehe

BLU adds, at first I was a little miffed that Comet was getting rewarded for making a mess, but then I realized that my girl was too smart to fall for his tricks. I was hoping that she was finally returning him to the pound, where he belongs.

The girl did not return me, but she did take me to the vet. I finished my medicine a couple of days ago, and my cough came back. The vet visit was not fun at all. First they put me on a weird table and made me lay upside down - and very still. They took funny pictures of my insides. They showed these pictures to the girl, and said that my lungs and heart looked good. Then, the vet told the girl that they wanted to test me for Valley Fever, and I had to go back in the scary room and they took blood out of me. This was scary because they didn't take it out of my foot - they took it out of my neck.

The vet gave the girl some more medicine for my cough. I was very happy to get back in the car and go back home to BLU

BLU adds .... I was very disappointed that the girl brought Comet back.

After such a busy Friday, I hopped on my favorite chair and zonked out.

Laissez les bons temps rouler!

Happy Mardi Gras everyone! I'm not sure if the girl is going to make us give something up for Lent, so I decided that I better indulge in all of my favorite vices today.
I snuck into the girl's bedroom while she was at work today. She has all sorts of cool things in there that I usually don't get to play with.

The girl hasn't allowed us to play with our Valentine's hedgehogs very long, because she doesn't want us to destroy them. But the girl wasn't here to stop me, so I got to pull all the stuffing out of it!
After the hedgehog was destuffed, I decided to dig a hole in the bed. Usually I just scratch at the sheets, but this time I was able to make a hole. Very cool!

While I was digging the hole in the bed, I found my absolute favorite vice in the world.....TISSUES!

The tissue box is so much fun. You can pull one out and another pops up in its place. Then when you pull that out, another one pops up. The box is magic! Look at the pretty trail I left from the girl's bedroom to her office. I'm quite proud of my work.

While I was having fun doing all of my favorite naughty things and "letting the good times roll", BLU was being a spoil-sport.

She decided to be good and take a nap. What a wimp!

Karma

Our girl got a good dose of her own medicine for giving us a cold water bath with the hose. She got locked out of the house in the rain! She wasn't happy, but we thought it was really funny. She blames us for the whole thing.

Here's how it happened.
About once a week our girl takes all of her clothes and puts them in weird machines. One machine gets her clothes wet and then another dries them again. She keeps these machines in a building outside. It was raining today when she went outside to move her clothes from one machine to another. She left the back door open a little bit when she went out, and we didn't want the cold air or rain to come in the house, so we closed the door while she was outside.

We were just trying to be good doggies and help the girl save electricity. How were we supposed to know that the handle was locked and she wouldn't be able to open the door? (hehehehehehehh) We certainly wouldn't do something like that on purpose! At least that's our story and we're sticking to it!

By the time she got back in the house, she was pretty wet, and not happy at all. That serves her right for making us take a bath this weekend!

In case you are wondering where that building is in the yard, here is a picture of our house from the back yard (after the girl got back in, and it stopped raining).

Splish splash

we had to take a bath.....

Our girl decided that the weather was warm enough to give us a bath today. Unlike some of our friends, we have to go outside for our baths. At first we thought something fun was going to happen when we saw our leashes. Then we saw the scariest thing in the world..... shampoo and towels!!

I was first. I tried to tell that girl that since I have a cold, she shouldn't give me a bath. She refused to listen. I really really hate taking baths. She knows that, and makes sure that I can't run away in the middle. Look at how she tied the leash around both the table and the deck so that I can't get away. I don't even look all that dirty!

That didn't seem to matter to the girl. She turned on the hose at got me all wet. Then she added shampoo. At least it smelled nice. It was yummy coconut.

But wet is wet, and I don't like to be wet. I wiggled and shook, trying to get all the yucky water off of me. The girl said that this was the reason why I had to take a bath outside.

After I shook most of the water off, I demanded that the girl unchain me and dry me off properly.

She wrapped me in a towel and rubbed me until I was mostly dry.

I still wasn't dry enough, so I had to dry myself off.

Finally the girl gave up and tied me in the sun. I really wanted to roll on the bed to dry off. At least from this spot, I got to watch BLU suffer through her bath too! At least I wasn't the only one who was tortured today.

I thought I was going to escape the bath. While Comet was being tortured, the girl had safely locked me in the house. I was watching through the door and laughing at Comet. When she opened the door and asked me to come outside, it wasn't so funny anymore.

I basically had to go through the same routine.
Get wet.
Get shampoo. (Mine smelled like berries)
Get rubbed.
Get wet again

And finally, get squished with the towel.

I am so glad that bath time is over.
Luckily, the girl hates giving us a bath as much as we hate taking one. It will probably be 6 months before our next bath!

Happy Valentine's Day!

We want to wish all of our friends a happy Valentine's day.
Sorry we didn't have a chance to visit all of our friends' blogs today to make personal valentines notes, but Comet hasn't been feeling well for the last couple of days. He's been up all night coughing and sniffling, so the girl took him to the vet this afternoon. It was kind of nice to have the whole house to myself. It was so peaceful and quiet - until it started thundering and then lightning flashed in the sky and it started raining outside. That was really scary for me. I really wished the girl was home - and even Comet. I hid in the crate until they came home.
BLU

Going to the vet was not the way I wanted to spend Valentine's day. It wasn't fun at all. I had to get on the scary scale again and then they poked that thing up my butt and held it there until it beeped. The vet gave the girl some pills. I don't want to take them, but at least she gives me little pieces of yummy meat to chase the pill down.

She also took me to PetsMart. I found a pretty pink hedgehog for BLU for a Valentine's gift (and the girl snuck an extra toy in the bag for me). When we got home, she gave them to us, but I just didn't feel good enough to play with them. But once the medicine kicks in... watch out hedgehog - I'll destuff you faster than you can blink.

Hey Mister, throw us some beads!

We found out where our girl went on her last trip. It was to New Orleans. She was there at the start of the Mardi Gras season and even saw a parade. She has pictures on her blog.

I guess she was in a Mardi Gras mood, because she made us special Mardi Gras necklaces. She knows I am way too masculine to wear a necklace, yet she makes me wear one anyway. After she got home, she made a trip to Petsmart and bought us Mardi Gras colored string balls to play with. I'm not sure what she was thinking with the string balls. Does she think we are cats? Yummmm..... cats!
Comet

I'm not quite convinced that the girl made the necklaces just for Mardi Gras. I think she celebrates Mardi Gras year round. As I was running around the living room, I noticed that our favorite chair to sleep in was also purple green and gold. And the couch was purple. And the other chair was green.

I think the girl made these necklaces for us to match the furniture! I sure hope she doesn't plan to sit on us!

Poked and prodded

I think the girl is still a little bit mad at us. Today she tricked us into thinking we were going for a car ride to somewhere fun. It was so exciting when we got in the car. We could hardly control ourselves.

When the car stopped, I knew exactly where we were. THE VET! Comet hasn't been to the vet very often, so he jumped out of the car right away. I knew what horrible things happen there, so I refused to get out. The girl finally used her mean voice and made me get out. HMMMPPFF!

I got out, but certainly wasn't going to make it easy for her. Every time she would try to walk, I would zoom between her legs and try to trip her. When that didn't work, I tried to tangle her legs up with Comet and my leashes. It almost worked. Comet joined in, even though he didn't know why. I think he just thought it was a fun game.

Once we were inside, the vet tried to make us sit on the scale. I don't like the scale. I'm not sure why (I'm the perfect weight) - I just don't. It scares me. The girl finally had to pick me up and hold me on the scale. I think she added a couple of pounds by holding me. Since I didn't like the scale, Comet got scared of it too. He should be scared of it - he's getting pretty chubby. The girl had to pick him up and hold him on the scale too. heheheheh. That will show her.

Once we were in the exam room, things got even worse! We got poked and prodded. The vet looked in my mouth and my ears. She poked my belly. She even poked something up my butt and held it there for a while. That's just wrong! Then, she tried to take me someplace else. At least when the girl was there, I knew I was safe. There was no way I was going to let her take me anywhere. I slammed myself flat to the ground and refused to move. The vet tried to get me to move, but I wouldn't budge. She even tried dragging me. Nope. Refused to budge. Then the girl did something really mean. She tickled me in my special spot that makes me get up. Once I was up, the vet took me out of the room. Somebody clipped my nails, then poked a needle into my leg and took some blood. That didn't last too long, and I got to go back and join the girl. Then it was Comet's turn. heheheh
BLU

My turn was almost as bad as BLU's. I tried BLU's trick of not moving, but the girl picked me up and put me on the table. Then the vet didn't even need to bend over to poke me. I got my nails clipped too, but the didn't poke me with any needles. In addition to our checkups, we were supposed to get some shots. The girl talked the vet out of them though. She told the vet that she read something (2006 AAHA Vaccine Guidelines), and the vet agreed that we didn't need more shots. Woo hoo! Maybe the girl isn't so mad at us after all!

Grounded for two days

The girl came home late Sunday night. We were so excited to see her, but she wasn't that happy to see us. She thought we were naughty and grounded us for two whole days! That meant no walks. No blogging. No fun at all! Here's what happened.

It's Comet's fault!
It was really late on Sunday. Liz didn't show up at her normal time and the girl didn't come home either. It got dark outside and still no Liz or the girl. Comet got mad that he didn't get his evening biscuit, and jumped on the girl's desk to find some. He found a little bag with a black string in it, and decided to chew that up instead. I knew he was being naughty and asked him to stop, but he refused. I went to the back yard and tried to run away, so I wouldn't get yelled at when the girl came home. I wasn't able to get out of the yard, and got yelled at with Comet when the girl came home. It wasn't my fault at all. He was the naughty one. Only Comet should have been grounded.
BLU

It's BLU's fault!
Ok, I admit that I got into the black string and started to chew it apart. But BLU freaked out and get all nervous. I know the girl gets mad when I chew things that aren't mine, but she's never grounded us for it. I really don't think I caused the problem. BLU was the one who caused the trouble. She dug a really huge hole by the back gate. I mean a really really huge hole. The girl was smart though, and had the gate blocked with heavy bricks, so BLU couldn't get out. BLU was determined to run away, so she didn't give up when her hole didn't work.

No, No. She had to rip wood off the fence. A long time ago, BLU learned that if you rip wood off the fence, you can eventually make a big hole to go through. Then you can escape the yard. This is why the girl grounded us. If BLU would have left the fence alone, we would have been fine. That's why it is BLU's fault!
Comet

Comet Started It!
The girl wouldn't even have known that I pulled wood off the fence if it wasn't for Comet. She would have come home, seen his broken wire, and yelled. He's the one who started the whole thing and I'm not going to let him get away with blaming me for it! Plus, he grabbed the wood pieces and brought them into the house. INTO THE HOUSE. That's how the girl found out about the fence.

If Comet would have left the wood pieces outside, the girl wouldn't have even known about the fence. Instead, she yelled at both me and Comet and grounded us! She locked the doggie door so I couldn't hide outside too. That was just not right. And it is all Comet's fault!
BLU

BLU Took Naughty to the Next Level!
What's worse than being grounded is that the girl turned on the little wire that runs around the fence. Usually that wire just sits there. But after BLU was naughty and tried to escape, the girl did something so now it hurts when you touch that wire. I guess she does that so BLU can't pull any more wood off the fence. BLU won't touch the wire now, and I try not to either, but it is really hard. Sometimes I don't have to touch it at all and it still hurts. I can't even pee on the wire or it zaps me! I blame BLU!

Comet scared a cop away

Last night when Liz came over, she tripped over me and Comet and didn't get to the alarm in time. It started going off and making all sorts of loud scary noises. Comet and I didn't like it one bit and howled and howled. Liz tried calling the alarm people, but she couldn't hear anything on the phone with the loud noises and me and Comet yelling for it to stop.

The alarm people didn't know what to do, so they turned off the noise and then called the police. The cops showed up at the house and Comet wouldn't let them in. He jumped at the door and barked like crazy. I barked too, but didn't jump too high. I also had to keep my eye on Liz, since she seemed a bit scared that the cops came.

Liz offered to let the cops in the house to check everything out, but they took one look at jumping barking Comet and said that Liz must belong there or Comet would be attacking her, and then they went away.

The rest of the night, Comet and I were very nice to Liz and didn't do anything naughty, because I think she had a hard enough evening. We even kept sneaking up to her to give her kisses and let her hug us. Hopefully, the cops and the noise won't come back tonight.

ps
Hana - Liz doesn't help us blog. We're excellent typists and don't need any help. :-) (shhhh....don't tell our girl we said that)

Visits from Liz

Liz came over to the house again tonight. I guess that means that our girl isn't going to come home again tonight. Maybe sometime tomorrow?

It was funny when Liz came over last night. We jumped all over her when she walked in the door, and she almost didn't get to the alarm in time. Luckily she did, otherwise there would have been a really loud noise. That sometimes happens when Liz comes to visit.

Liz is pretty funny. She lets us get away with all sorts of things. She gives us little bits of people food when we beg and lets us climb all over her. She keeps calling us her babies and giving us all sorts of hugs. It's nice, but we hope our girl comes home soon.

Scary black box

The girl took the scary black box out of the closet tonight. The box is scary because she puts her clothes in it and then disappears. She filled it up with a bunch of clothes and then took it outside. I started pacing right away because I thought she was going to leave tonight and I hardly had time to see her after she got home from work. But then she came back in the house to play with us. She knows it makes me very nervous when I see it.

I think she is trying to be tricky. The silly girl thinks if she puts that box outside tonight, that I will forget about it tomorrow and think she is leaving for work like normal. I know better than that. I'm going to be really clingy to my girl for the rest of the night.
BLU

I think it is really fun when the girl leaves. Sure, I like having her home, but she didn't leave the house at all for almost 5 days last week, so it will be kind of nice for her to leave for a while. Plus, Liz comes to stay with us when the girl leaves. Liz likes me better than BLU, so I love it when Liz visits. I can get away with being really naughty.

Barking all night

This has been a pretty boring weekend for us. Our girl still wasn't feeling all that good, so we didn't get to do anything too fun.

Yesterday when my girl got out of bed, she could hardly move and was in a lot of pain. She could hardly stand up straight and kept saying "ouch ouch ouch" every time she walked. We were hoping she would play with us, but she didn't feel much better at all. She spent most of the day sitting on or laying on a little pillow that got really hot.

We tried to play catch with her, but she couldn't bend down to pick up the toys to throw. We needed to actually put them in her hand for her to throw them. We know she was trying, but it wasn't that much fun.

Before she went to bed, she took a special aspirin. She fell asleep really early and slept all night. I've never seen her sleep so hard before. There was a cat on our porch last night, and we got to bark at it. Really bark at it! First I barked, then Comet barked. Usually the girl will wake up and yell at us to be quiet, but she didn't wake up at all. We ran in and out of the house barking, and she didn't wake up. We jumped on the bed and she just snored away.

Finally she woke up this morning. She seemed to feel better. She was still walking funny, but didn't seem to be in as much pain. She was able to bend over and pick things up today, although she was pretty slow when she did it.

This afternoon, she finally left the house. While we love spending time with our girl, she hadn't left the house in four whole days! She went out for only a little while today, but at least she felt good enough to go out. When she came back, she had chinese food. We love chinese food! And this time it was even better. Usually she eats really hot and spicy food, so we can only taste a little before our tongues burn. This time, none of it was spicy. It was sooooo delicious!

She got chicken and vegetable soup, and she put a little bit of the broth over our kibble. It was so yummy, Comet and I gobbled it up. It was so much better than the hot and sour soup she usually gets. She usually only gives us a tiny piece of the spicy tofu. She also ate some veggie chow fun. Comet and I each got a couple of noodles. This name kind of scares me. What's a chow fun noodle? Hopefully they aren't made of fun chows! Yikes! These weren't spicy this time either. Yum yum. Maybe the girl should be sick more often so she shares her yummy non-spicy food with us.

The girl was sick

I feel bad that I was so mad at my girl in my last post. On Wednesday, she came home from work early. I was hoping she was going to take us out somewhere fun. Instead, she spent the rest of the day in the bathroom making gross noises or sleeping. A few times, I didn't know what she was doing. Usually she sits on the white water bowl in the bathroom, but she was kneeling in front of it the several times that I went in to check on her. She usually yells at BLU for drinking out of it, so I don't think she was drinking.

Every time she came out of the bathroom, she would go to sleep on the couch. She usually doesn't sleep on the couch, so every couple of hours, I would jump up and put my nose to her nose, just to make sure she was still breathing. She would wake up, pet me, and go back to sleep. A few times, her stomach was making noises that were really really scary and I barked at it.

Yesterday, she didn't seem much better. She turned the heater so hot that I was panting, but she kept putting on more clothes and blankets. She spent most of the day in bed, which wasn't very fun for me and BLU. Every now and then, one of us would hop on the bed to make sure she was ok.

Today, she seemed a little better. She got out of bed and actually sat on the couch for a while. She ate a little bit of food, but nothing good - just dry yucky crackers. She made a few noodles for dinner tonight, but no sauce. Doesn't she know that the sauce is the best part? Who wants plain noodles? That wasn't even worth begging for!

I hope my girl feels better soon. I miss playing with her and getting yummy food.

Retraction

I, Comet, hereby retract every nice thing I ever said about the girl. She's a mean horrible person and I don't like her one bit.

I spent all day yesterday trying to make the perfect anniversary gift for her. I was going to throw streamers around the house, but she put the toilet paper where I couldn't reach. I really wanted to get her a gift, but when you are limited to the house and yard, it's pretty hard to find something. After hiding out back most the day, I was finally able to catch a nice juicy bird for the girl. That wasn't easy. It's not like I can just run out to Bird-Mart and pick one up! I remembered that she doesn't like it when I bring birds in the house, so I left it in the back yard by the step so she couldn't miss it. Then I waited for her to come home with my present.

And I waited
And waited
And waited.

The girl was at work for 14 hours yesterday! I can't believe she didn't come home early to spend time with me. That's not right. By the time she got home at 10pm, it was too dark to show her my present. And after all the effort that went into getting it. I don't like my girl.

Not only did she come home late and ruin the surprise that I had for her, but she didn't even bring me anything. Nothing. No gift. No present. Not even any special food. What kind of rotten person do I live with?

The only good part of the whole day was when she brought in the mail. There was a special present for me and BLU. Huskee Boy sent us a gift. He and his NICE person were very thoughtful and sent us a couple more door stoppers, so BLU and I won't get locked in rooms anymore. Now we have one for every door, plus one in case we break one. That was so very thoughtful and made my day. I wish my girl was that thoughtful!

Anniversary

Today is my anniversary. It's been two whole years since the girl brought me home to live with her. On January 22, 2005 I had my 5 minutes of fame. I was on a TV show called Pets on Parade. That was kind of fun, but pretty scary at the same time. I had to get groomed and then was surrounded by all sorts of people that made up nice things about me, just so somebody would want to take me home.

After the show was over, I had to go back to my cage at the humane society and wait for all the people who wanted to adopt me. Nobody showed up. How could that be? I was the most handsome dog on the show that day. Finally, one person came. It was the girl. She thought I was adorable and wanted to play with me.

I was taken to the play area with the girl. I didn't like her at first. She smelled like another dog. She patted the ground near her until I couldn't resist any further and attacked her hand. She was quick. She pulled it away before I could sink my teeth into her, then she found my sweet spot where I like to be rubbed. What a tricky girl. I liked her so much I peed on her foot. She must not have liked that, because then she got up and left and I was put back in my cage. I hoped that somebody else saw me on TV and wanted a famous dog. Nobody else came.

After what seemed like a really long time, the girl came back. She came back! She brought the other dog that I smelled earlier. All of us went into a big grassy area, but BLU and I didn't really like each other. We were both really nervous and scared. We didn't fight, but we kept our distance. Despite that, the girl decided that we would eventually get along, and decided to take me home.

It turns out that she didn't even see me on TV, and didn't know all the nice lies they told about me. She picked me because she thought it would look cute when she walked both me and BLU at the same time. Sometimes the girl does things for completely stupid reasons, but they still turn out fine.

All I can say is that I'm glad that the humane society has low standards and let the girl take me home - stupid reason or not. She had tried to adopt two other dogs before me from various rescue groups. Both turned her down and called her an "unfit pet owner" because she was single, worked full time, and sometimes has to travel for work. Can you believe it?

I know I sometimes complain about the girl because she works too long, and forgets to change light bulbs, doesn't take me on a walk as often as I want to go, and won't let me chew toilet paper or pee in the house. But I also know how much she loves me and will do just about anything to make sure that I am safe, happy, and have everything that I need (and some things that I want). I'm really happy here and even like having BLU as a big sis. I think I'll make a special present just for the girl to thank her for adopting me and wish her a happy anniversary.

Crazy Weather

The weather in Phoenix has been crazy lately. When we woke up, it was cold and rainy. An hour later, the rain stopped and the sky started to turn blue. Our girl decided to take us for a quick walk. We were only about 3 blocks from the house, when it started raining again. None of us liked that, so the girl rushed us home and dried us with a towel.

The towel game is fun. The girl wraps a really big towel around me, and then I fall to the floor and play dead. Then she has to try to dry me all the way around, and ends up picking me up in the towel. Once she picks me up, I wiggle all over to make it hard for her to catch me. She puts the towel over my head so I can't see and bump into things. Sometimes Comet will try to bite my head when the girl does this. That part isn't quite so fun.

After we were dried off and warmed up, we heard a really loud bang and saw light. It sounded like a scary storm. Then there was another bang and light. And another. Then the tv and lights turned off. It was really scary. The girl went outside and all of the neighbors were out there too. I don't know what a transformer is or why it would explode, but that's what all the people were saying.

Since the girl didn't have electricity, she abandoned us at home and went shopping for a long time. When she came back, the electricity was back on and she had a bag of new food (for Comet) and some biscuits. That was exciting. We like it when she buys us stuff.

About an hour later, the girl was doing something in the yard and we heard another loud boom and flashes of light. The power didn't go off this time - this was a real storm. Instead of rain drops, weird fluffy stuff fell out of the sky. It wasn't the same as feathers. It was cold and wet, and turned to drops when it hit the ground. I had weird cold white flakes all over my fur. I didn't like it one bit, so I ran in the house and hid. Comet hid with me.

Let there be light.....

...and internet too!

The girl finally replaced the light bulb today. We appreciate Joey's offer of having his mom bring one by, but our girl actually had a whole box of light bulbs. She's just didn't want to stand on a stool and change the bulb in the dark. What a wimp.

Our internet broke again on Thursday. At first we thought the girl was breaking it on purpose to keep us away from her computer while she was gone. She got mad at the broken internet too, so I don't think she did it on purpose. Today the cable guy came to the house to fix the internet. We wanted to watch what he was doing, but the girl locked us in her bedroom the entire time. It must have been really broken, because it took him almost 2 hours to fix it.

We almost escaped the bedroom and got to help. After an hour, the girl decided to give us each a biscuit for being quiet in her room. Usually she slides them under the door when she doesn't want us to get out. Today, she must not have been thinking, because she opened the bedroom door to hand us the biscuits. Comet almost got out, but the girl was too quick and blocked him with her leg and the door. I thought it was really fun, but I think the cable guy almost pooped his pants. Too bad I missed it.

In the dark

I think the girl is trying to trick us. BLU still doesn't want to eat her special food, so now the girl is feeding us in the dark. Doesn't she know that BLU's food smells different than mine? Why does she think we can't tell the difference when the room is dark?
Comet

That's not why we are eating in the dark. The light bulb in the food room burned out and the girl hasn't changed it yet. And it's been a whole week. Maybe one of these days she will fix the light so we can see again.

Bye Bye Birdies

I think the cold weather chased away all the birds, because we haven't seen hardly any birds since the invasion a couple of days ago.

It has been really cold here. The temperature has been getting down to 28F ( -2C) for the past couple of nights. The girl doesn't like the cold at all. She keeps adding blankets to the bed. I don't think BLU likes the cold either. Last night, BLU slept on the bed with the girl - something she NEVER does.

I love the cold. I think it is really cool to go outside and have the grass crunch under my feet. When I breathe, weird clouds come out of my mouth. I try to chase them.

This morning, the girl bundled up and took us for a walk. We didn't go very far. Somebody had their sprinkler on and the water froze on the sidewalk. The girl stepped on it and slipped and fell down. She didn't get hurt, but she didn't want to walk us any more, so she brought us back home. I guess I will just have to spend the rest of the day chasing the clouds from my mouth.

The Birds!

Our neighborhood was invaded by birds today. Every time we turned around, we were surrounded. It was sooooo cooool. BLU and I spent all afternoon chasing them around and around. Usually, we chase birds and they fly away. Today, every time some flew away, 100s more took their place. We weren't able to catch any though.

At first we thought this looked like a lot of birds. But then there were more.

And More

And more....

How many can you count in this picture?

Chillin

Even though the girl was supposed to have the day off, she spent most of the morning working anyway. We wanted to go for a walk this morning, but it was pretty rainy (and we don't like water). So, Comet spent the morning being goofy as usual, and I just chilled.
BLU

Now that the sun is coming out and it is drying up, we have been having a lot of fun chasing pigeons in the yard today. The tree guys got rid of all their nests, so they don't know where to go when we chase them. BLU almost caught one this morning, but it got away. I think she got a feather though.

More scary noises

There were a lot of scary noises at our house today.
Early in the morning, a big truck pulled up to the house. The girl told Comet to go in his box (crate) and locked him in. Then four men got out of the truck. Two of them had big loud things called chainsaws. Those made a lot of noise! One of the men climbed a palm tree at the side of the house and turned on his chainsaw. It was really loud. Big pieces of the tree came down and made really loud sounds as they hit the ground. Sometimes they would hit the house and make loud noises too.

Another man with a chainsaw was in the front of the house and cut down a big tree. That was really scary. Comet was glad he was safe in his box, otherwise he would have been barking non stop! While the men were chopping the trees, another man came to the house. He put a ladder against the house and then started walking on the roof. Footsteps aren't supposed to be on the top of the house. Even in his box, Comet started barking because it was really scary.

I don't know what the man on the roof was doing, but he kept making the heater turn on and off. He left for a little while, but came back and made even more noise on the roof. The girl gave him money and he finally left. At least now she isn't afraid to turn on the heater any more. And the whole house doesn't vibrate when she does!

The tree men were still here when the heater guy left. They still had their chainsaws going in the back yard and palms kept crashing to the ground. I didn't like it one bit. The tree guys finally finished up, and the girl gave them some money and left. I think all the scary noises for the day are gone now.

Scary noises

I heard a scary noise last night. It was really loud and sounded like the roof was going to cave in. I ran around the house trying to find it, but I couldn't. So I barked. And barked. And then barked some more. BLU just paced around the house. That's what she does when she gets scared. Our girl didn't like that noise one bit either. At first she thought somebody was on the roof, and went and locked all the doors and checked the windows. Then she thought it was coming from the heater. She turned the heater off for a while. Then the house got cold, so she turned the heater back on. Then we heard the scary noise again. The girl jumped up and turned the heater off. She was really scared and kept it off. The house was really cold all night.

Tonight, I heard the noise again. It was still scary. The girl didn't think it was as scary as last night. She turned the heater on, but not as warm as she likes it. I know she was still keeping an eye on it. I think she's a little bit afraid of the heater now.

Comet
ps. I'm not doing a good job of keeping my resolutions. I'm still mauling the girl every time she gets my leash out to go for a walk.

Resolutions

Happy New Year!
We decided to start this year with our resolutions.

Comet:
  • I resolve to stop mauling the girl every time she gets out my leash. I will try to curb my enthusiasm so that she will want to take me out more often.
  • I resolve to stop trying to steal food from the counter or my girl's plate. If I'm patient enough or cute enough when I beg, she will give me some anyway. I don't need to be obnoxious and steal it.
  • (The girl thinks I should add that I won't mark in the house, steal toilet paper and tissues, or go nuts at the door. Let's be real here - there is no way that I could keep those resolutions.)

BLU:

I don't know why I need to make any resolutions. I'm perfect as I am. But, to humor the girl, here are my resolutions for 2007

  • I resolve to be a little nicer to Comet, even though he does drive me nuts and get on my nerves.
  • I resolve to stop trying to trade food with Comet. There is a reason the girl makes me eat special food and I should try to cooperate more.

Locked in a dark room

The funniest thing happened last night. The girl went out and BLU locked herself in a dark room. She was stuck there until the girl came home. It was great! I had the entire house to myself without BLU getting in the way. I put a few of my toys right by the door so she could see and smell them, but not touch them. The only bad thing is that when the girl finally came home and let BLU out, the first thing BLU did was attack me. That wasn't very nice.
Comet

It wasn't that funny. The girl normally keeps foam stoppers on top of our doors so that we can't get locked in a room. When she leaves the house, she closes her bedroom door so we can't go in there. Last night, she thought she closed it, but the latch didn't catch. Comet was driving me nuts, so I went in there to get away from him and sleep on the girl's bed. Comet kept coming in and bugging me, so I tried to slam the door on him. Sometimes I actually catch him, but he doesn't get hurt because of the door stoppers. This time I slammed the door and it closed all the way. Luckily Comet was on the outside of the door and not stuck in the room with me!

It wasn't too bad being stuck in the dark. I slept most of the time, and a little light from outside and under the door was in the room. It wasn't scary at all. Plus, I didn't have to deal with Comet. It was actually quite nice. I was happy when the girl came home and let me out though, because I really had to pee!
BLU

ps. The girl used to put a towel over the doors before she bought these stoppers from PetsMart. She found them about a year ago, but hasn't seen them there lately.

Bye bye tree.....

Chopping up the broken part of the real tree yesterday made the girl want to get rid of the Christmas tree too. This morning she started on a mission to take down all of the lights, decorations, and even our cards.
The good news is, she is also packing up the ribbon necklaces. Yippeeee!
We want to thank all of our friends from DWB, the Eskie Board, and other friends of ours and the girl's for making this a wonderful Christmas with all of your festive cards. We really appreciate how much time and creative talent went into some of the cards. Some of you set the bar pretty high for next year! A couple more cards trickled in yesterday, and we think there may be a couple more still on the way, but this is what the girl is giving us as her final count:
Comet and BLU = 56 cards
Comet, BLU and the girl = 24 cards
The girl = 21 cards
Grand total = 101 dalmations! .... oops 101 cards!
And we still won! :-)

Somebody broke our tree!

Yesterday while our girl was at work, there was a very loud noise. Comet and I ran to the front door and saw big branches from our tree in the road. Somebody broke the tree!

We were worried that the girl would blame us once she came home from work! It was almost dark when she got home, and her neighbor came over to tell her that a big truck smashed into the tree and didn't even stop. He helped her pull the branches out of the road and onto the lawn.

This morning the girl got up early. We got all excited because we thought she was going to take us for a walk. Instead, she locked us in the house and went outside to chop up the tree parts. The neighbor came over and helped her cut the biggest pieces. I thought she should have taken a picture of it, but she was so focused on getting rid of the tree that I guess she forgot. At least she didn't blame us for it!

Now the girl is really tired from chopping the tree. We still want to go for a walk, but the girl said she is really tired and we will have to wait until this afternoon.

Christmas eve trip

The girl got what she deserved for being such a grinch.
On Christmas eve, she took us out for a walk before she went to visit her friends for dinner.
During the walk, BLU and I saw some mud in the road, and wisely walked around it. I don't know what the girl was looking at, but it wasn't the road. She walked right through the mud.

It was really funny. The mud completely covered her shoes, and when she tried to walk, her shoes were really slippery. She slid around like she was ice skating. It was funny, so BLU and I decided to run to see if we could pull her. It would have been really cool if she could have kept her balance. Instead, she just belly flopped face first into the sidewalk.

She didn't move for a while. I got really scared and licked her face. I think it was BLU's bad breath that finally made her move. Another lady out for a walk offered to help my girl get up, but my girl said she was ok. After a while, she got up off the sidewalk and scraped a bunch of mud off her shoes so we could go home. The rest of the walk wasn't very fun after that.

Our girl was ok though, since she had no problem going to dinner with her friends and leaving us home.

The Grinch Stole Christmas

Oh wait, the grinch isn't that mean. The girl is!
Other than our two presents from Rory and Matthew, we got nothing for Christmas. Nothing. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Zero!
Not even a lump of coal!!! I know I've been a little naughty this year, but come on, nothing?? Something is very wrong in the world!
Comet

Well, it's not quite true that we got nothing. We just got nothing from our girl. In addition to the pressies from Matthew and Rory, the girl's friend Christine gave us two presents. She gave us a glow in the dark ball, and a tooth scrubber. I want the ball, and I think Comet needs the tooth scrubber. I'm not sure why, but the girl wouldn't let us play with them. She showed them to us, then put them away. She didn't even take them out of the package. That really isn't right. Just because she doesn't like getting gifts doesn't mean that we should also have to suffer. Christine gave them to us - not to the girl! We should get to play with them. I don't care if the girl was upset that we destroyed Rory's toys in less than 10 minutes. These toys look like they would take at least 30 minutes!
BLU

We hope all of our doggie friends (and fufu) had a very merry Christmas and got lots of toys and treats. Hopefully you live with somebody nice and not a grinchy girl.
Love, Comet and BLU

Early Christmas presents

This week has been really exciting. Lots of people have come over to visit our girl. Sometimes she let us visit with her, but most of the time she locked us out in the back yard while the people were here. That wasn't very nice of her. We like guests too!

Last night, the girl was going to go to a Festivus party. She was in charge of bringing the aluminum pole. As she was getting dressed, the annoying phone rang again. I heard her tell somebody that they could come over. I hope we get to stay in the house this time.

The girl's friend Rory and his son, Matthew came to visit. I don't think Rory should be allowed in the house any more, but Comet really likes him.
Comet wants to add..... "I like Rory. On the first night I came to live with the girl, Rory watched me while the girl ran out to get Chinese food. Rory let me pee on a chair. That was fun. Rory is so cool for letting me do that!
Anyway...... Matthew brought us toys for Christmas. That was really nice of him. We each got one, and right away tried to rip them apart. We jumped all over Matthew and gave him lots of slobbery kisses. Comet pretended to kiss Matthew, but was really trying to steal his glasses. The girl caught him and made him stop.
Matthew and Rory didn't get to stay long, because the girl needed to leave, but it was fun while they were here. After Matthew and Rory left, the girl took away our presents! Not fair! She never lets us eat stuffed toys when she isn't around.

Hana - friend or foe?

Dear Hana,
I used to think you were very nice and cute. You may still be cute, but you certainly are not nice!

You are no longer my friend.

You did a very mean thing to Comet and me. You let your person teach our girl how to make ribbon necklaces. I can't even begin to tell you how cruel that was. What did I ever do that was so mean to you? At least when the girl put silly hats on us, we could knock them off. But these! Yikes!

Do you know how many people stared at us while we were out on our walk today. It was so humiliating. I don't think I can show my face in public ever again.

Your former friend,
BLU
Hana,
I almost was going to side with BLU, but you did such a good job of making her mad that I like it! It takes a special kind of evil to upset BLU that much. Congrats! Anyone who can make BLU cry is a friend of mine!

Plus, I think the ribbons are kind of cute. Not terribly masculine mind you, but they are festive.
Lots of people stared at us because we were lookin fine! F.. I.. N.. E.. FINE! People were oo'ing and ah'ing over us. I liked the attention! I felt like a celebrity, being hounded by puparazzi!

Your best friend forever,
Comet

ps. I think BLU was just jealous that my ribbons were prettier! hehehehehe

Here's another breakdown of the cards we got.

USA = 48
Singapore = 8
Canada = 7
Australia = 3
Malaysia = 1
Japan = 1
UK = 1
Brazil = 1

We love being popular! Thanks for the cards everyone!

Tag! Who's it?

Yikes! We've been Christmas tagged by Joey and Tanner. At first that sounded really scary, but it really isn't.

The Rules: The player of this game starts with "3 things he/ she would love to get for Christmas" and also has to list "3 things he/ she definitely does not want to get for Christmas". Then he/she tags 5 friends and list their names. The ones who get tagged need to write on their blogs about their Christmas wishes, as well as state this rule clearly, then tag 5 more victims. And the one who tags need to leave a comment that says "you've been Christmas tagged!" in their comments and tell them to read your blog.

Ok For Christmas Comet would love to get:
1. Cartons of toilet paper and kleenex to chew
2. Snow to play in
3. A great big bloody juicy steak

Comet really, really doesn't want for Christmas:
1. Rules!
2. His nails clipped or fur brushed
3. Curry

For Christmas BLU would love to get:
1. More snuggle time with her girl
2. Normal food instead of the icky kidney food
3. Stuffed toys to rip apart

BLU really, really doesn't want for Christmas:
1. A bath (or water of any kind)
2. Stray cats in her yard
3. Comet or the girl to hog the computer

We are tagging....... Ender, Freda, Huskee Boy, Ronak, and Hana

Fritos

My girl likes to eat Fritos.
She likes the smell of Fritos.
She likes to lick salt off Fritos.

She says my feet smell like Fritos.
I like the smell of Fritos.
I like to lick Fritos.
I like to lick my feet.
They taste salty and smell like Fritos.

The girl yells at me for licking my feet!
I don't understand my girl at all.
Why doesn't she want me to lick my yummy Frito feet?
Maybe she wants to lick my feet.

Food fight!

I don't like this. I don't like it one bit. Comet and I had a nice system down at dinner time. The girl would put food in each of our bowls, then we would each take a bite or two, then switch bowls to taste the other's food. Since they tasted the same, we would eat as much as we wanted, then save the rest for later, nibbling throughout the day.

A few weeks ago, the girl started messing with our system. She bought me a new food, but Comet got to eat the same food. I don't know why she did this. I like the old food better, and Comet likes the new food better, but she won't let us switch. It just doesn't make sense.

I keep looking at her and begging for the new food, but she just says that the vet told her I needed special food. I don't like my special food. When the girl puts down my bowl, I right away run to Comet's and he runs to mine. The girl switches it on us, and Comet and I try to eat out of the same bowl. I'll tell you this, one bowl isn't big enough for the both of us. So we fight.

The girl thought she was being clever by putting our food into different kong toys, but Comet and I switch toys when the girl isn't looking. Instead of letting us have our way, the girl switches it back. It's not fair, I tell you. It's just not fair!

Boo's boo boo

When the girl came home from work today, the front curtains were off the door. At first she thought Abby came over to play again, but that isn't what really happened.

The curtains fell down when I tried to attack the mail lady through the door. Normally I just bark at her, and sometimes body slam the door. But today, I knew something was wrong. Sure, she left me a big pile of cards (and many from our friends in Asia!).

Normally that would be a good thing. But we've been waiting and waiting and waiting for the card from Boo.... and the mail lady only gave us half of it! I tried to stop her from keeping the rest of it, but the darned door got in the way. At least the best part of the card is still there. Boo's handsome face.

We got cards from lots of our other friends too. I would write more about them, but the girl is impatiently tapping her foot. Something about checking her email before going to bed. People!

Cold is good

Our girl doesn't understand that it's winter. I wait all year for it to get cold outside, and in Phoenix that isn't very often. Since it doesn't snow here, the least she can do is let me enjoy the cold. But what does she do? She comes home from work and turns up the heater so hot that I pant! Then she closes the doggie door at night so I can't go outside and lay on the cold porch. There is something seriously wrong with her. I need help from all my northern friends to convince my girl that cold is good!
Thanks.

Tree decorations

The girl finally put the decorations on the tree. I've already pulled a couple off and tried to chew on them, but she caught me and yelled at me. I guess I will have to wait until she leaves the house to go to work or out with friends. Then I can taste all of them that I want to without her interrupting me.
~Comet

We also got two more cards today. Hana was very cute in her card. So was Sophia, and we could tell that she worked very hard when she made her card. It was very pretty.

We added these cards to those that we got yesterday from Tin Tin, Copper and Hershey, Salchicha and Lilly, MJ, and Mackie and Ollie. When she added the new cards, the girl realized that all of them weren't going to fit on top of the fireplace. She used some sparkly beads to hang the cards from. They are closer to me now, so I can see them better. I just hope that Comet doesn't eat them!
